In response to Ryan "Gravy" Graves question. I believe that he did not tell Nan because he did not want her to worry or ruin their mood because of the trip they were planning on taking. He did not want them to miss out on spending time with the family. They had been through enough and didn't want them to worry even more.
Answering Ryan's Question: I think Mack kept from telling Nan that he was going back to the Shack because he wanted to protect her. He wasn't sure if it was actually from God, and he didn't want her to be disappoined, especially since she has a much better relationship with Him. He didn't want her to be worried about him either, in the case that she thought it was from Missy's murderer. He just wanted to protect her.
Answering Eli's question I dont think God had a direct say in what happened because he gave all of man kind free will so that they had the choice of what they wanted to do and I also don't think that God would stop the killer because that would violate free will.
Answering Eli's question: God lets things like this happen to good people because hats the way he planned her life, and these bad things give other people a motivation to do good things. It shows that even when something bad happens, you have to stay positive.
Answering Hope's question I think he chose an African American woman because of Mack's experiences with his father. His father wasn't the best so God came in a way that would be more comfortable to Mack.
In response to Hope's question: I think the author depicted her as an african american woman to show that God has no boundaries. God is everyones not just focused on one set of people.
Answering Caroline's question: I think that God thinks that independence is a bad thing because he doesn't want us to be independent from Him. He wants us to live in Him and Him in us. He gives us Freedom, but sometimes I think we confuse that with independence.
Why do you think God would let these terrible things happen to an innocent girl?
